Egypt is currently in discussions regarding the development of a new resort on the Mediterranean Sea near the town of Ras al-Hikma.
<p>The area is located in Matrouh province and is renowned for its pristine white sand beaches. The project involves businessmen from the UAE, which has caused concern among the Egyptian opposition. Additionally, eco-activists are alarmed as the coastal strip of the region is currently untouched by human activity, and it is a popular holiday destination for Cairo residents. In five years, Egypt plans to create a new tourist attraction that will be capable of receiving millions of visitors annually. This will increase the overall tourist flow of the state, which has been struggling with a lack of available accommodations.</p>
